Refreshing to see a thoughtful and informed take on this - I do feel people love to take any scrap of insight or statistic to make Gen Z out as freaks.

Generational antagonism aside, as a researcher I was curious about the discrepancy in statistics but couldn't find info about the question or dataset from that GWI source. I would be looking to see if the questioning subtly or overtly biases responses to a particular side.

So timely...I'm currently in Rome on holiday and yesterday I went into a church (as you do) and thought to myself how I used to be ( in the '80's) so deeply affected by the images of christianity, more specifically catholicism, but now felt disconnected. Then.....within a moment I saw a painting of someone ( a saint I guess) handing a baby up to the Madonna and I started to cry. The tears wouldn't stop and were connected to the babies being killed in Gaza and the sense of despair and hopelessness for all of us who can't turn away. It came to my usually cynical self that religion may offer a salve in the darkest of times which I believe we are currently living in and that the collective may be having similar impulses. I am very cynical about organised religion and the harm it has caused, but somehow the recent Pope's death has unleashed something.
